Jason Monet Speaks, Page Eight

   THREE BOATS
   by Chris James Wee

 Three boats...you, me and her
are now beached on a stormy Santubong Bay
Three lives are hearing tropical thunder roars
And the piles banging it all in.
 For tomorrow’s cemented nature may
 disappear our current view.
For now we are just waiting for the canvas to
reveal what it has to say.

The colours of each boat sing out loud,
 having travelled.
Where Chelsea, Perth and Fukioku was
 home...
Far away from the stony beach in
 Santubong Bay.
You said “I do it because I want to”
“I do it because it uplifts with a certain
 lifelong meaning”, I said.
“I do it for you” she said.
We all do it for Art’s sake...
 Art, Writing and Drama.

Just waiting for the canvas to reveal
 today’s trials
And possible triumphs for the Muses’ sake.
a canvas for three boats...once all afloat.
We’re beached now on Santubong bay.
 Colourfully bleached like greenish-brown
 maturing coconuts;
or the browning of the fresh green palm stem
 baked in the sun
On a short natures ride in our own free time
 on our cloudy Borneo stay.
